Beatles Rock Forest Hills Stadium On This Day In 1964
"Twist And Shout" and "A Hard Day's Night" rocked the stadium 53 years ago Aug. 28.
FOREST HILLS, QUEENS - All eyes are on the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for the U.S. Open this week, but 53 years ago on Aug. 28, Forest Hills Stadium was the center of attention.
That's because it's the arena the Beatles chose to grace for two shows in 1964.
The second show was just 25 minutes long, according to a New York Times report at the time, but left a lifelong impression on legions of fans.

"I could hear the concert from the bedroom window. I lived on Groton Street with my three year old son Jim, who was probably one of their biggest fans," a Queens resident wrote at BeatlesBible.com.
"I’ll never forget the crowds of people camped outside the stadium hoping to get a close look at the Beatles when they arrived. What a shame they were brought in by helicopter!"
