Cops Arrest Wannabe Bank Robber In Forest Hills

The Jamaica man tried to rob an Austin Street bank but fled empty-handed when a teller took to long to respond to his demands, cops said.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS -- The wannabe thief who tried to rob a Forest Hills bank but left empty handed when it didn't happen quickly enough was arrested anyway on Wednesday evening, police said.

The man walked into the First Central Savings Bank on Austin Street and handed a teller a note demanding money on May 22 just after 11 a.m., police said.

But authorities said the man grew impatient when the teller took too long to respond to his demands, so he simply walked out of the bank empty handed.

He changed outside of the bank from his blue and white hooded sweater and blue sneakers into a black T-shirt and black shoes before heading west on Austin Street, police said.

Police identified the man as 27-year-old David Pyant, of Jamaica. He was charged with robbery for the stickup.
