Crime at a Glance: Larceny Problems

Larcenies are up lately, but not much else.

Forest Hills and Rego Park are still suffering from an overabundance of grand larceny, though other crimes in the area have calmed down somewhat over the last few weeks.

Let's take a look at the most recent crime numbers here:

  • There were 12 incidents of grand larceny in Forest Hills and Rego Park over the last week, more than the same period last year.
  • There were just two burglaries, matching last year's total. Though for the last month, burglaries in the area have been up by 50 percent over 2012.
  • No robberies were recorded during the most recent week, helping the precinct drive its totals down for the year.
  • All told, the 112 Precinct is on pace to reduce its total robberies year-over-year by nearly 20 percent.
  • Petit larceny is up for both the week and the month, and has seen a total increase of more than 14 percent this year.
