Driver Arrested, 1 Critically Hurt In Queens Hit-And-Run: NYPD

The 19-year-old driver told police he had fallen asleep at the wheel of his SUV before he struck the pedestrian Wednesday in Glendale.

GLENDALE, QUEENS — A hit-and-run driver was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Queens after he sped over a street median and struck a teenage boy and another car, police said.

The driver, 19-year-old Queens resident Brian Singh, told police he had fallen asleep at the wheel of his GMC Yukon SUV before slamming into the pedestrian at Myrtle Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard about 2:40 p.m.

The 17-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized and remains in critical condition, a police spokesperson said Thursday.

Singh was arrested on charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash.
