Jackie Robinson Pkwy Exit To Close For Weekend Construction

The ramp from the eastbound Jackie Robinson Parkway to the westbound Grand Central Parkway will be closed for construction this weekend.

KEW GARDENS, QUEENS — The ramp from the eastbound Jackie Robinson Parkway to the westbound Grand Central Parkway will be closed for construction this weekend, the New York State Department of Transportation is warning drivers.

Exit 8W will close to traffic starting 10 p.m. Friday and will reopen about 10 a.m. Sunday, weather permitting, the agency said in a news release.

  • Take Exit 7 from eastbound Jackie Robinson Parkway to access northbound Van Wyck Expressway.
  • Take Exit 11 (69th Road/Jewel Ave) from the northbound Van Wyck Expressway and turn left onto Park Drive East.
  • Turn left onto 69th Road, and then take the ramp to westbound Grand Central Parkway.

The ramp closure will make way for workers to complete drainage improvements as part of the state's multimillion-dollar project to revamp the complex intersection known as the Kew Gardens Interchange.

The Kew Gardens Interchange serves nearly 600,000 vehicles daily, according to the state transportation department.
