REGO PARK, QUEENS — Locals are dismayed following reports that London Lennie's Seafood Restaurant is up for sale.
The Rego Park site hit the market last week for $6.5 million, the Forest Hills Post reported. The restaurant is still open.
The listing advertises the property at 63-88 Woodhaven Blvd. as a "rare development site" whose land value exceeds the restaurant's value. The restaurant's owner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Leonard "Lennie" Barnes founded the restaurant in 1959 after a stint in the Merchant marine, according to its website. His son, Les Barnes, now runs the business.
"This redevelopment opportunity provides developers the ability to capitalize on tremendous demand in an area with a scarcity of developable land," the real estate listing reads.
