This Many Forest Hills Residents Have Gotten Coronavirus Vaccines
Thousands of adults in the ZIP code 11375 have gotten at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to city data released Tuesday.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Thousands of Forest Hills residents have gotten at least one shot of the two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, according to new data.
About 8,500 people in the ZIP code 11375 received either one or both vaccine doses, or roughly 14 percent of the area's adult population, according to New York City Department of Health vaccination data released Tuesday.
Forest Hills has one of the highest numbers of vaccinated residents across New York City and the most of any Queens ZIP code, a Patch data analysis shows.

The data indicates that more people have gotten vaccinated in wealthier, whiter parts of the city, even in spite of city efforts to promote equity in the rollout of the vaccine amid a pandemic that has hit low-income neighborhoods and communities of color hardest.
The Manhattan ZIP code 10025, which includes Morningside Heights and the Upper West Side, saw 15,423 people with at least one dose — the most of any in the data.

In Forest Hills, 4,700 residents have gotten only one vaccine dose and 3,800 have gotten both doses, according to the data.
But in the neighboring Corona ZIP code of 11368, which became an early epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic and has been deemed one of New York City's hardest-hit neighborhoods, only 3,800 have gotten at least one vaccine dose — 4 percent of the adult population.
Torian Easterling, the city's chief equity officer, said the vaccination map will provide a "roadmap" informing further outreach efforts. He said many in neighborhoods with fewer vaccinated people harbor doubts about the vaccine's safety.
"We have a real distrust problem we have to overcome," Mayor Bill de Blasio said. "The very communities that need the most help ... have the highest distrust."
