MTA To Install Security Cameras In Forest Hills Subway Stations
The MTA will install security cameras in four subway stations in Forest Hills and Rego Park to help monitor and prevent crime.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — The MTA will install more than 100 security cameras across four subway stations in Forest Hills and Rego Park to help monitor and prevent crime.
Transit officials plan to put cameras in the 63rd Drive-Rego Park, 67th Avenue, Forest Hills-71st Avenue and 75th Avenue subway stations along the Queens Boulevard line, according to a news release Wednesday.
It's unclear when the cameras will go up because the installation plans aren't yet final, according to the office of state Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi.

Hevesi requested funding to buy and install the cameras in February 2019.
Local NYPD leaders then collaborated with Heidi Harrison Chain, president of the 112th precinct community council, on a plan for how to distribute the cameras across the neighborhood's subway stations.

Under their tentative proposal, the 63rd Drive-Rego Park M/R train station would get 43 security cameras, the highest number of the four stations, officials said.
The Forest Hills-71st Avenue and 75th Avenue subway stations would get about three dozen cameras each, and the 67th Avenue station would get 21 cameras.
"I am thrilled that Assemblyman Hevesi was able to secure the funding and achieve this result of permanently improving our community's safety by the installation of these cameras," Chain said in a statement Wednesday.
"In recognition of Assemblyman Hevesi 's extraordinary efforts and this successful result, we will be presenting him with a diamond award at our precinct community council meeting.”
