Overnight Closure To Affect Van Wyck Expressway Exit Ramp

The Van Wyck's exit ramp to the westbound Grand Central Parkway will be closed overnight Friday to make way for construction work.

KEW GARDENS, QUEENS — The two-lane exit ramp leading from the Van Wyck Expressway to the westbound Grand Central Parkway will be closed for construction overnight Friday, the New York State Department of Transportation is warning drivers.

Exit 10 on the Van Wyck's northbound side will close to traffic at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen about 7 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

The closure will make way for the demolition of the old eastbound Grand Central Parkway ramp to the westbound Jackie Robinson Parkway.

Drivers wanting to access the westbound Grand Central Parkway from the northbound Van Wyck Expressway during this closure will be directed to use the following signed detour:

  • Use Exit 11 (69th Road/Jewel Avenue) from northbound Van Wyck Expressway
  • Make a left onto Park Drive East and then a left onto 69th Road
  • Turn right onto the Grand Central Parkway West/RFK Bridge entrance ramp
