Police Are Bringing A Back-To-School Bash To Queens Center Mall

The celebration will feature free food, free haircuts, a live DJ, backpack raffle and more.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Police in Queens are celebrating the 2017-2018 school year with a back-to-school celebration on Aug. 16.

The Community Affairs Bureau of NYPD Patrol Borough Queens North shared the news in a recent tweet.

The event will be held at the side of Queens Center Mall, located on 59th Avenue between 94th and 92nd Streets, from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. and is open to all children enrolled in the upcoming school year. Police are raffling 200 backpacks, each with school supplies, as well as free music and entertainment throughout the event. Free haircuts will be offered to children 12 years old and younger, and there will also be free makeup tutorials.

The event will also feature a live DJ, an inflatable bounce house, free food and JC Penney job opportunities, police say.
