Queens Public Libraries Closed Due To 'Severe Weather Conditions'

All Queens library branches are closed Thursday due to weather, the library system announced.

QUEENS, NY — The Queens Public Library closed all its branches Thursday due to expected severe weather conditions, according to a spokesperson.

The closures coincide with a predicted "long duration snowfall" that prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for the period from 4 a.m. Thursday to 7 p.m. Friday.

New York City could be blanketed in as much as 6 to 7 inches of snow, Mayor Bill de Blasio said, urging New Yorkers to stay off the roads and take public transportation if possible.
