REGO PARK, QUEENS — A Rego Park restaurant got its liquor license pulled for letting diners eat and drink indoors, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office said.

Over the weekend, investigators observed four customers eating and drinking inside Kazan Mangal, a restaurant specializing in Mediterranean and central Asian cuisine, according to a news release from the governor's office.

The restaurant, at 97-13 Queens Blvd., had previously been charged with allowing customers to eat indoors, violating an indoor dining ban meant to curb COVID-19's spread in New York City.

"New Yorkers crushed the curve of the virus and their actions have allowed us to maintain a low infection rate throughout our reopening, but we must continue to be smart and cautious, especially as we watch cases rise throughout the rest of the country," Cuomo said in a statement.

Emergency liquor license suspensions are effective indefinitely, pending the results of an administrative hearing, when a judge may reinstate the liquor license or permanently revoke it and issue fines of up to $10,000 per violation.
