This Rego Park Porter Is Also A Top Marathon Runner: Report
A Mexican immigrant who works as a porter in Rego Park, profiled by The Times, will be one of 50,000 running the NYC Marathon this weekend.

REGO PARK, QUEENS — A Mexican immigrant who works as a porter in Rego Park is also one of the top 10 runners in the world in his age group, according to a video profile in The New York Times. This weekend, he'll also be one of 50,000 runners in the New York City Marathon.
Guillermo Piñeda Morales, or Memo, started running in his hometown of Santa Ana Coatapec in Mexico and came to the United States without papers when he was 15, The Times reported. He ran his first marathon in 1995.
Now Memo, 46, is a U.S. citizen and is among the world's top 10 marathon runners in his age group and the second-fastest American runner in his age group, according to The Times.

"If I ran for Mexico, I would be number one, but I wanted to represent the United States," he told The Times. "Say thank you for everything I have."
