Spectrum Customers In Forest Hills Lose TV, Internet And Phone Service

The problem was due to a damaged cable, a spokesman for the company said.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Spectrum customers in Forest Hills lost TV, internet and phone service Monday morning, according to a spokesman for the company.

The problem was caused by a fiber optic cable that was damaged by vandalism, the company said.

“Our crews are on site and working to repair [the cable]," the spokesman said.

The outage affected several neighborhoods in central Queens, Charter/Spectrum said. The number of customers affected wasn't immediately clear as it "is continually changing given the restoration process," he said.

"Our expectation is that the services will be restored gradually during the afternoon hours (barring anything unforeseen)," the spokesman told Patch.

"Couldn't watch the news, couldn't check my emails, couldn't check the status of the MTA to figure out if I needed to leave home earlier. THANK YOU SPECTRUM," one Forest Hills resident commented on a Facebook thread regarding the issue.
