Well that was not fun while it lasted.
The Jets released back-up quarterback/golden retriever mix Tim Tebow Monday morning, just two days after selecting West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL Draft over the weekend.
The Tim Tebow experiment lasted one season in New York. The Heisman Trophy winner was traded to Gang Green from Denver last year for draft picks, pocket lint and several boxes of Girl Scout cookies.
“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” said head coach Rex Ryan, according to the team website. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.”
