Win A Night Out At Forest Hills' New Boozy Art Studio

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS -- A paint-and-sip franchise with hundreds of locations across the country will make its Queens debut in Forest Hills this week, and you could win a free night to try it out.

Painting with a Twist opened its first Queens studio at 97-14 Metropolitan Avenue, its Forest Hills owners Felecia and Kumar Singh announced on Monday. The studio, which helps patrons get in touch with their inner artist with a few glasses of beer and wine, will host its first "soft session" on Thursday from 7 - 9 p.m.

"It's really exciting," Felecia Singh told Patch. "It's a like a dream come true."

Each "session" at the paint-and-sip franchise costs $35 for two hours or $45 for three hours. It comes with step-by-step instructions from a local artist and all the art supplies you need to create your masterpiece. Patrons can buy wine, beer and light snacks at the studio's "Inspiration Station" for an extra ~twist~ of creativity.

"It's a nice date night or girls' night out," Felecia said.

It was a date night to the franchise's Staten Island studio roughly a year ago that inspired the Singhs to open their own Painting with a Twist, she said.

"They were doing a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness, and I thought that was really amazing," Felecia said. "We looked into it and decided it was right up our alley to bring to Queens."

The new studio will host "soft sessions" where patrons can paint everything from yellow peonies to power pumps in the weeks leading up to its Official Grand Opening Celebration on June 5 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The invite-only celebration will feature a special opening night painting, complimentary food and drinks, and a tour of the new studio, Felecia said.

The opening marks a milestone for the Singhs. The pair said while the 11-month wait to get there was quick by franchise standards, it felt like an eternity for the new owners, who wanted to serve as an example for their 8-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son.

"As business owners we wanted to show our kids to follow their dreams and be persistent," Felecia said. "Now they've been able to watch this dream grow from conception to fruition."
