16th Annual Halloween Festival Returns to Fort Greene Park

The free Halloween festival in Fort Green Park starts Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11:30 a.m., with a costume contest for dogs and their owners.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — The Fort Greene Park Conservancy is hosting its 16th annual Halloween Festival in Fort Green Park at the end of October, with a host of free family and children-friendly activities.

The Halloween festivities kick off on Saturday Oct. 29 at 11: 30 a.m., and end at 3:00 p.m., at Fort Greene Park (near the entrance at DeKalb Avenue at Washington Park).

"The Great PUPkin," a costume contest for dogs and their owners, will take place at 11:30 a.m. and is sponsored by Fort Greene PUPS, a local dog-owners organization.

The contest is being held at the base of the Monument Steps near the the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument, organizers said.
