Forbidden Planet Invades Fort Greene Tuesday
Science fiction from the '50s. It's amazing.

It's hard nowadays to get a lot of perspective on mid-20th Century science fiction. While humanity was on the cusp of a whole new universe of discovery, technology in film was still working with spit and polish.
This is what makes Forbidden Planet so interesting. It's a kind of time capsule for what we, as a society, thought our future could be. And it changed movies as a result.
On Tuesday night, check out the film at BAM, with an introduction at 7 p.m. by author of Alternate Histories of the World, Matthew Buchholz.Â
Two other screenings will take place at 4:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.Â
