Fort Greene and Clinton Hill: Meet Your New Local Politicians

FORT GREENE and CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN — Democrats carried local election races in many sections of Brooklyn, and Fort Greene and Clinton Hill were no exception.

Voters overwhelmingly supported Democrat Velmanette Montgomery in the 25th State Senate District. The State Senator has longtime roots in the area, serving in the chamber since 1984.

Walter T. Mosley was elected for a third consecutive term in the 57th State Assembly District after earning 93 percent of the vote in an unopposed race. Mosley was also unopposed in 2014 after defeating Republican Francis J. Voyticky in 2012. Notably, nearly ten percent of Mosley's share of the vote came along the Working Families ticket.

• Winner: Velmanette Montgomery (D): 88.41 percent
• Second place: Michael G. Cox (I): 3.25 percent
• Third place: Mamie Rose (R): 3.03 percent

• Winner: Joseph R. Lentol (D): 84.83 percent
• Second place: No challenger
