Fort Greene Meditation Class Will Cure Your Election Blues for Free

The Mark Morris Dance Group's Election Day meditation class aims to help everyone de-stress and come together.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN – For those suffering from election-cycle fatigue, Fort Greene's Mark Morris Dance Group will offer a free hour-long meditation class on Tuesday morning to help wipe away the stress of the past few months in politics.

"This is to bring the community together to de-stress on the morning of the election," Sarah Marcus, the director of education at MMDG, said in a phone interview, adding that participants do not need to bring any equipment, including mats.

The meditation class was the idea of dance instructor Alexandra Beller, a well-known figure in the modern dance community who is part of the MMDG faculty. She was inspired to offer the class after her students told her they were suffering from stress brought on by the exhausting election coverage in recent months.
