This Street Is NYC's Most Dangerous For Cyclists: Report

A report from a law firm found that Atlantic Avenue, from Pennsylvania to Flatbush avenues, is the most dangerous for cyclists in the city.

FORT GREENE, NY — A stretch of Atlantic Avenue that runs through Fort Greene and Clinton Hill is the most dangerous in the city for bicyclists, a new report found.

A report released by Chicago law firm Rubens, Kress and Mulholland earlier this month found that Atlantic Avenue, from Pennsylvania to Flatbush avenues, had the highest amount of cyclists crashes, injuries and fatalities out of any other road in the city.

The report used 2015 data from cities across the country with populations of more than 500,000 people to map the most dangerous roads for cyclists in them.

Aside from the stretch of Atlantic Avenue, the report also found that the 88th Precinct, which covers Clinton Hill and Fort Greene, had the highest rate of cyclists injured per 100 crashes in the city, the New York Daily News first reported.

Overall, the report found that Albuquerque and Tuscon had the highest rate of cyclists deaths in the cities tracked and roads with narrow shoulders without bike lanes tended to be the most dangerous.
