'Gotham' Will Film Mock Train-Station Bombing In Downtown Brooklyn This Week
No, the landmarked Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower isn't under attack. That's just the special-effects team for "Gotham" doing their thing.
FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — The old, landmarked Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower at the intersection of Hanson and Ashland places (pictured above) will be rocked by a fake, made-for-TV explosion on Wednesday, March 1, local officials warned.
The FOX series "Gotham," an NYC-based crime drama drawing inspiration from DC Comics' "Batman" franchise, will use the historic building's high-ceilinged, big-windowed ground floor as a stand-in for Union Station, according to an alert sent out by City Council Member Laurie Cumbo.
In the scene they're filming, a bomb will go off in the station — at which point a "crowd" of extras will "react," the council member said.

The show's special-effects team will reportedly "use atmospheric smoke and haze, air movers and compressed air cans" to simulate the train-station bombing.
Film-crew trucks are expected to start showing up on the streets near 1 Hanson Place between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and won't be gone until around 10 p.m., according to Cumbo's office.
