MMA Star Conor McGregor Pleads Guilty To Disorderly Conduct

The Irish fighter was sentenced to community service on Thursday after he threw a hand truck at the window of a bus in the Barclays Center.

FORT GREENE, NY -- MMA star Conor McGregor pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in exchange for community service to settle charges stemming from a backstage tussle at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, prosecutors said.

The 30-year-old Irish fighter was ordered to be evaluated for anger management classes and five days of community service at his Thursday morning hearing in Kings County Court after he chucked a hand truck into a bus window at the Fort Greene arena on April 5.

McGregor was also ordered to pay for damages to the bus, which he has already done.

He addressed the charges briefly outside the courthouse, thanking Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez and the judge for "allowing me to move forward."

"I want to say to my friends, my family, my fans - Thank you for supporting me," McGregor said.

He was joined by his 25-year-old entourage member Cian Cowley, who also pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge from the fight and got three days of community service and anger management classes.

A spokesperson for the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office told Patch the ruling was "a fair resolution that holds the defendant accountable, ensures restitution for the victims and requires the defendant to perform community service where he can reflect on his conduct and give back to society.”

McGregor was promoting a press conference for an upcoming UFC fight at the Barclays when he got into an argument with some of the brawlers scheduled to fight in the stadium. Video shows him grabbing objects to toss at the buss full of fighters, two of which were hurt by broken glass, authorities said.

He and Cowley turned themselves in to the 78 Precinct later that night and were charged with assault and criminal mischief, police said.
