Spike Lee Names Lead Actress in 'She's Gotta Have It' Netflix Remake
DeWanda Wise will star as Nola Darling in Spike Lee's 'She's Gotta Have It' Netflix reboot.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — Over 3,000 hopefuls reportedly showed up to the Brooklyn Masonic Temple in Fort Greene last month for Spike Lee's impromptu open casting call for his upcoming Netflix series, a remake of his 30-year-old film "She's Gotta Have It."
Just a few weeks later, Lee has announced via Instagram that DeWanda Wise will star as Nola Darling.
Wise, a Baltimore native, is on a total streak these days: Her recent network television gigs have included a reoccurring role on "Underground" and a co-lead on Fox's "Shots Fired."

The original "She's Gotta Have It," which dropped in August 1986, centered on Nola (played by Tracy Camilla Johns), a 20-something artist in Brooklyn trying to juggle three relationships with three very different men while balancing life's responsibilities.
