VIDEO: Man Catches Ride On Side Of Subway Train

A daring straphanger clung to the side of a Clinton Hill C train last week for a stop then casually got off at the Lafayette Street station.

CLINTON HILL — A daring straphanger surfed on the side of a Clinton Hill subway doorway for one stop during rush hour last week, according to video and reports.

The subway surfer grabbed on to the doorway of the Manhattan-bound C train on Friday morning at the Clinton-Washington station then rode it one stop to Lafayette Street before casually jumping off, according to video and the New York Post.

Rider Matt Beary caught the brazen rider on video and posted it to Instagram on Saturday, which shows the man riding between stations with only one hand on the train while the other kept his shirt down.

"Classic NYC craziness," Beary wrote on Instagram. "Why ride inside the car when you can level up your urban surfing skills?"

Beary, 35, told the Post he was on his way to work when he caught the ride and didn't approach the surfer while shooting video so he didn't startle him.

"I’d never seen anybody do it before," Beary told The Post. "I’ve seen warnings about it on the subway. I just wanted to take the video because I thought it was awesome and also scary as hell."

While Beary and other straphangers were shocked by the subway surfer, his video shows one man not even looking up from his phone to catch the ride.

The technical term for the daredevil's feat is called skylarking and it's killed at least 15 people who've done it since 1989, the New York Daily News reported.
