Freeport Building Proposed Site Of $60 Million Redevelopment

The plan would create 250 apartments for seniors above retail spaces.

The Village of Freeport is in talks to sell the Freeport Plaza West office building to developers looking to invest $60 million to redevelop it.

According to Long Island Business News, the DiNoto Group, based in Woodbury, is looking to purchase the property and turn it into 250 rental apartments for residents 55 and over, on top of ground-level retail space.

The building is well-known to those who drive on Sunrise Highway. It has been vacant for 30 years, and has been the subject of other proposed, and failed, developments in the past.
