Garden City Luxury Housing Market Grew In 2016

The luxury market is going up, which means good things for the village.

Garden City's luxury housing market grew in 2016, with more houses selling for more money than the previous year.

The report, released by Daniel Gale-Sotheby's International Realty detailed the entire luxury market for all of Long Island.

The market across of Nassau was in a bit of flux: the number of sales were down overall from 2015 to 2016, but the prices held about steady: the average price decreased slightly from $2,373,763 to $2,315,724, while the median price increased a drop from $1,998,000 to $2 million.

Garden City, though, bucked the county-wide trends. The village saw the number of luxury houses sold increase from 23 to 26. The average sale price also increased from $1,819,130 to $2,053,358. Likewise, the median price also increased from $1.7 million to $1,827,500.

The village also saw it's highest sale increase, going from $2.7 million to $3.1 million.
