Build-A-Bike Event Awards Bikes to 10 Boys & Girls Club Members

70 employees at the NPD Group's Activities Committee assembled bikes for underprivileged members of the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club.

Ten Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club members between the ages of seven and nine received newly assembled bicycles through the Activities Committee at the NPD Group’s Build-A-Bike event on Wednesday, July 23.

70 employees participated in the event where five pink-and-blue bikes and five red-and-black bikes were assembled in three hours. The company also presented the kids with helmets, craft supplies and ice cream and the kids tested out their new bikes in the parking lot of the NPD headquarters.

“We are delighted to have had this opportunity and to be able to offer the bicyclest o the children of Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club,” said Lisa Grimes, Marketing Associate at NPD and the event’s lead coordinator. “This was a great bonding event for our teams and to have the finished product bring so much happiness to these kids made the whole experience that much more worthwhile.”

The children selected to receive the bikes were from households that could not otherwise afford it.

“Receiving a brand new bicycle is a first time experience for many of our Club members and there is nothing more touching than to see the smile on a child’s face when they are presented with a special gift they were not expecting,” said GCBGC Director of Operations, Franca Trunzo.
