Full Schedule Of Glen Cove 350 Celebrations

The multi-day celebration features fireworks, a parade, street fair, live entertainment, an old timers baseball game and more.

Glen Cove is holding a multi-day celebration— complete with fireworks, a parade, street fair and more— for the city’s 350th anniversary. The events will take place from Wednesday, May 23 to Monday, May 28.

“Being able to celebrate Glen Cove’s rich and storied 350-year history with the community and their families is what makes our city so special,” Mayor Tim Tenke said in a press release. “I want to thank our committee members and volunteers who have given their time and energy to organizing a robust celebration for our city.”

“The main focus of our weekend street fair is to have our community join together and support our local businesses, craftsmen, entrepreneurs. Community groups, musicians and entertainers, while enjoying downtown Glen Cove as we celebrate our 350th anniversary,” Street Fair Chairperson Sandra Potter said.

May 23

Heritage Garden Ribbon Cutting

  • At Mill Pond Park (across from Panera Bread) at 1 p.m.
  • Local residents and business owners sponsored bricks to lay the foundation of a new Heritage Garden that will honor the City’s 350th Anniversary for years to come.

May 24

Glen Cove’s 350th Anniversary Official Community Celebration

  • At Morgan Memorial Park on Germaine Street from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
  • The event features performances by school choirs, local musicians and dance studios, a reunion of Glen Cove Mayors, special guests, fireworks, celebration cupcakes, food trucks and more. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnic basket or purchase treats at the celebration.

May 25

Old Timers Baseball Game

  • At John Maccarone Memorial City Stadium on Morris Avenue at 7 p.m.
  • Residents and visitors will take a step back in time and enjoy watching America’s favorite pastime being played in the style and traditions of the 19th century – no gloves and lighter bats. There will be a special appearance of Mr. Met and refreshments will be available for a nominal fee. Opening pitch is at 7:30 p.m. and will feature former Glen Cove High School varsity baseball coaches Sal Travatello and Jon Dolecki. The national anthem will be sung by Anna Chavez with 7th inning stretch entertainment performed by the Glen Cove Senior Center’s Golden Voices Choir.

May 26 and 27

Glen Cove 350 Downtown Street Fair & Children’s Carnival

  • The fair will take place at Bridge, School and Glen Streets from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Downtown Glen Cove will open its streets to vendors providing art, crafts, clothing, jewelry, children’s entertainment, refreshments, sweet treats, mementos, and gifts, as well as an opportunity for our local fraternal and community groups to share upcoming exhibits and events. There will be music, magic and local theatre performances. Food and snacks will be provided by local restaurants, food trucks, the Kettle Corn Company, Knot of this World and many others. The event partner is Nassau County Craft Shows.
  • Children’s carnival amusement rides will amuse the kids along with cotton candy and other carnival attractions.
  • Great Entertainment From Reptiles to Rock Bands & Soulful Serenade
    • On Saturday, May 26, from 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., My Reptile Guys will mesmerize the audience with their exotic critters, such as snakes, tortoises and iguanas. The Chiclettes, an all-female band, will play Motown hits as well as current jams such as, “Happy,” by Pharrell. The funk, soul and rock band Glass Bottom Soul will play classic covers and some groovy jams from 3:15 – 5:30 p.m.
    • Sunday, May 27 kicks off with a performance by North Shore Village Theatre at noon. The band will be performing selections from their new upcoming show, “The Red Cape.” Local musician Matt Grabowski will perform classic hits as well as some of his own tunes from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. To cap off the weekend’s entertainment Antigone Rising will perform at 4:30 p.m

  • Discounted tickets will be available for pre-sale on Thursday, May 24 and Friday May 25 at the Glen Cove Youth Bureau, 128B, Glen Street.

Glen Cove 350 Travel Through Time Tours

  • Tours will take place Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Meet behind Meet behind City Hall on the Pulaski Street garage steps. Tour tickets available at www.GlenCove350.com.
  • Tour Glen Cove with visits to historic mansions, neighborhoods and famous film locations. Live route talks, hop off destinations with refreshments, and free giveaways from local businesses. Guaranteed seating ONLY through prior RSVP at www.GlenCove350.com. Tickets: $10; Seniors - $7; children under 5 free.

May 28

Glen Cove Memorial Day Parade

  • The Glen Cove Memorial Day Parade begins at noon Cottage Row and Forest Avenue, then it continues down School Street, left onto Glen Street, right onto Pulaski Street, right onto the Arterial Highway, past the reviewing stand in front of Glen Cove Public Library, and ending at Charles Street.   • In memory of Glen Cove’s rich history, and a tribute to our defenders of freedom, Glen Cove children will ride and march alongside a float dedicated to the transfer of land as well as depictions of historic buildings that are part of the City’s past. The parade will go through downtown Glen Cove – School Street to Bridge Street with the reviewing stand at the Glen Cove Public Library on Glen Cove Avenue.
