Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club April Youth of the Month
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club named Jencarlos R. and Jeanelly A. the April Youth of the Month.

Congratulations to Jencarlos and Jeanelly.
Junior Youth of the Month Jencarlos is ten years old and is looking forward to his teen years when he too can be a group leader mentoring young members at his beloved Club of ‘happiness and fun’. He is an avid soccer player who dreams of becoming a soccer star someday but until then is content playing sports in the gymnasium with his friends. Jencarlos first joined the Club when he enrolled in the Summer program three years ago but continued school year membership so he can attend daily. He participates in Club activities with an optimistic attitude and was selected Junior Youth of the Month for his willingness to help others and serving as a positive role model to his peers. Jencarlos does well in school where his favorite subjects are math and writing. He also enjoys reading the thrilling stories from history ‘I Survived That’ book series by Lauren Tarshis.
Senior Youth of the Month, 17-year-old Jeanelly A. is about to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor after graduation from High School. Jeanelly has been accepted to New York Institute of Technology where she plans on earning her pre-med degree before embarking on her medical career and providing better treatment and services to her community. In addition to being academically driven, Jeanelly is also very sporty and enjoys playing basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Jeanelly prides herself on being organized and driven yet approachable, friendly, and outgoing. She used to be very shy but credits the Club for helping her break out of her shell and becoming more sociable. Jeanelly was first introduced to the Club four years ago when she was invited as a guest by a friend. She immediately fell in love with the Club and became a member. Since then, she has demonstrated a willingness to try new things and has meaningfully contributed to the success of Club programs. She is a shining example to her peers, especially the younger members who look up to her. “I like helping others and talking to the younger kids and making them laugh.”
