Glen Cove To Get New Bagel Joint
Neighbors will be able to grab a bite to eat at the new bagel spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
GLEN COVE, NY — It's National Bagel Day, and Glen Cove is about to get one more option for delicious bagels.
Brendel's Bagels & Eatery of New York plans to open its fifth Long Island location at Harbor Landing, a luxury rental building at Garvies Point. RXR Realty, the developer behind the $1 billion waterfront development project, and Craig Beresid, owner of the bagel chain, both confirmed the news to Patch on Wednesday.
Neighbors will be able to grab a bite to eat at the new bagel spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Outdoor seating will be available for those looking to eat and soak up some sun, and indoor seating will also be available. The shop will also offer catering.

Brendel's has locations in Farmingville, Hauppage and Huntington, as well as a shop in Syosset that opened in the fall. Beresid told Patch on Wednesday it was a "mutual marriage" to open another location in Glen Cove, adding that he wanted to take advantage of a good opportunity.
"It seemed like a good community they've put together there and I wanted to be a part of it," he said.

Beresid thinks it could open in May or June, though the area is under construction. Glen Cove residents appear to be excited about the opening, he said. And the store has received what he called "phenomenal feedback" about the new Syosset location, which opened on Jericho Turnpike.
Brendel's Bagels has been on Long Island since 2008 and is known for its fresh, handmade bagels, which come in a variety of flavors.
"We’ve been growing our footprint on Long Island for over a decade, and we’re thrilled to meet our new neighbors in Glen Cove," said Beresid said in a news release.
Joe Graziose, executive vice president of residential development and construction at RXR Realty, called the partnership between Harbor Landing and Brendel's a "natural choice."
"This addition furthers our vision of Harbor Landing as the ideal location for those looking for a dynamic rental experience, and brings us one step closer to the realization of Garvies Point as a true destination for our residents and the community," he said in a statement.
Developers call Garvies Point a city within a city. When it's finished, the site will offer public amenities such as parks, playgrounds, restaurants, retail, marinas and a ferry terminal connecting Garvies Point to New York City. The development, which will feature both condos and rental units, will house about 1,100 residences.
Long Islanders are known to love bagels, but the Glen Cove area offers few bagel options outside of Dunkin' and Starbucks. Other local bagel options currently include Long Island Bagel Cafe, Locust Valley Bagels and Daily Bagel Plus.
