GLEN COVE, NY — Residents over 60 and disabled homeowners can apply to the City of Glen Cove’s Community Development Agency for pre-screening for home improvement funds as part of the city’s Residential Rehabilitation Program.

The funds, which are coordinated by the agency on behalf of Nassau County’s Office of Community Development, can be used for home repairs, including energy conservation, code violation remediation, and handicapped accessibility.

The agency has been able to fund 11 projects totaling about $150,000 since the program was reinstated in 2014, according to Mayor Timothy Tenke, who chairs the city’s Community Development Agency.

The projects included roof/siding replacements, boiler/hot water installations, window/door replacements, ramp and chair lifts, and accommodations for handicapped people, Tenke said.

“For Glen Cove resident homeowners in need, funding from this program can make a substantial improvement to the quality of their home life and we appreciate the support of Nassau County to make this funding available to our Glen Cove residents,” said Ann Fangmann, the community development agency’s executive director.

Pre-screening applications are available in English and Spanish on the agency’s website, which is www.glencovecda.org. To apply, click on the programs tab, and then on Residential Rehabilitation Application.

Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and funding is limited.
