Glen Cove Hosts Pryibil, Crescent Beach Cleanup

​Members of the community are invited to help clean up the beaches of Glen Cove this weekend.

Members of the community are invited to help clean up the beaches of Glen Cove this weekend through the annual International Coastal Cleanup.

The event will clean up Pryibil and Crescent beaches on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Beautification Commission will host volunteer registration tables at each beach and will provide instructions and supplies to help with the cleanup. The items and information collected during the cleanup will be used to educate the public, business and government agencies on the negative effects of marine debris.

Gloves will be provided at both locations and participants are asked to bring sunblock.

The event is organized by the Glen Cove Beautification Commission and sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy.

The Ocean Conservancy works with communities around the world to protect and lean up the ocean. More than 18 million pounds of trash was collected by nearly 800,000 volunteers during the 2015 International Coastal Cleanup.
