Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade Canceled: Mayor

Concerns over a public gathering amid the spread of the coronavirus caused officials to cancel the parade.

GLEN COVE, NY — The Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade has been canceled, according to a social media post by Mayor Tim Tenke's office. The cancellation comes amid concerns over the new coronavirus.

The parade, previously scheduled for March 22, was canceled after local medical experts expressed their concerns about large public gatherings.

"As organizers of the Parade, we feel obliged to take no chance of presenting unnecessary risk to our families, friends and guests who would have attended these events, or to the community at large," the mayor's office said in the social media post.
