Glen Cove's 12th Annual National Night Out Set For August 7
The block party-style celebration features tours of the police department, children's activities and free food.
Glen Cove joins thousands of cities and towns across the country in thanking the local authorities for all they do during the nationwide National Night Out event.
All residents are encouraged to participate in Glen Cove's twelfth annual National Night Out held on Tuesday, Aug. 7 in downtown Glen Cove for a block party-style celebration.
There will be free tours of the Glen Cove Police Department, TASER and police equipment demonstrations by officers, Operation Safe Child ID badges for kids, an appearance by Sparky the Dragon from the New York Islanders, entertainment, food and more.

“National Night Out is an outstanding program that provides our residents with an opportunity to build relationships with Glen Cove’s law enforcement officers and learn about the many programs and services offered by the city and community groups,” Mayor Tim Tenke said in a press release
This year's National Night Out special honoree will be Joe LaPadula, an art connoisseur, car enthusiast and fundraiser.

Since 2009, Joe has organized the Gold Coast Concours / Bimmerstock, an annual charity event, which has raised over $615,000.00 for the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI). He also organizes numerous community outreach events supporting charities such as the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program; in turn his company received the prestigious 5 Star Diamond award in 2014 and 2015.
At the age of 23, Mr. LaPadula founded Martino Auto Concepts (MAC). Today, after 27 years, MAC has become synonymous with automotive excellence providing clients with an outstanding level of service, style and unparalleled dedication to the artistry of their craft. Being an authentic art connoisseur, Mr. LaPadula’s latest project is housed at the Coles House in Glen Cove. Over 200 world renowned street artists were invited to paint the walls of this 9000 square foot historic building turning individual collaborations into an art collective. Mr. LaPadula enjoys spending his free time with his wife and three children.
