Nassau Baker To Compete On Food Network's New Show

The show features Buddy Valastro, also known as the "Cake Boss."

GLEN HEAD, NY — A Glen Head baker is coming to a TV near you.

Chelsea Kravitz, baker and chef at The Bakery Lady, will appear on the new Food Network competition show "Big Time Bake" along with Liz Rosado of Cookies for a Cause in New York City. The series premiered Monday night with Buddy Valastro — aka the "Cake Boss" — serving as host and judge.

In the show, four bakers compete to create cookies, cupcakes and a showpiece cake over six hours. Valastro and guest judges visit each kitchen to taste — and critique — the foods while the clock ticks. The theme of the first episode was magic.

"The competitors must bake the best cookies, cupcakes, and cakes that not only taste delicious, but also impress Buddy Valastro with the technique and presentation," Courtney White, president of the Food Network, said in a news release. "On top of preparing the desserts, the bakers must strategize to use their time wisely, making 'Big Time Bake' one of the most difficult competitions."

In an Instagram post, Kravitz said she was excited to share the news with her followers.

A date hasn't been announced for the episode. You can watch the series premiere here.

For those interested in trying some of her decadent sweets, Kravitz told Patch in a direct message Tuesday she does not have a brick and mortar store — yet, but that it's "coming very soon."

"I take orders of all sizes and deliver!" she said.
