LI Native Ashanti Gives Back To Local Hospital Workers: Report
The Grammy-Award winning artist wanted to help hospital staff during the coronavirus outbreak with a "breakfast for champions."

GLEN COVE, NY – Long Island native and Grammy-Award-winning R&B artist Ashanti is giving back to area hospital workers on the front lines of the coronavirus outbreak by giving them free meals, according to a report.
The singer, whose legal name is Ashanti Douglas, was born in Glen Cove and is giving doctors, nurses and other staff at Glen Cove Hospital a "breakfast for champions," according to Newsday.
The singer has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards in her career, most recently in 2003 for best female R&B vocal performance for "Rain On Me," best R&B song for "Rock Wit U (Aww Baby)" and best contemporary R&B album for "Chapter II."

A year earlier, she won the Grammy category of best contemporary R&B album for "Ashanti," and was nominated for four other awards, including best new artist and best rap/sung collaboration for "What's Luv."
