Mini Library Installed At Glen Head Railroad Station
The Gold Coast Public Library's new "Grab-n-Go" book service is now available at Glen Head Railroad Station.

GLEN HEAD, NY — The Glen Head Railroad Station is now home to a "Grab-n-Go" mini library, where Long Islanders can pick up a book anytime for free.
The book-sharing box — which resembles a tiny wooden house on stilts — is the latest effort by the Gold Coast Public Library to expand its reach within the community.
"Thanks to the carpentry skills of the Scouts in Cub Scout Pack 278, as well as the support of Troop 195, Troop 43, and the Theodore Roosevelt Scout Council, residents can now select a book at any time of day from the library's adult, young adult and children's excessed book collection," the library system said in a statement.

The books are free and don't need to be returned to the library.

"The Board of Trustees and I are extremely grateful to all the Cub Scouts for generously donating their time and carpentry skills to create this mini library for our patrons and community residents," Library Director Mike Morea said. "We are always looking for ways to repurpose our excessed library collection and this is a perfect way to achieve that goal. At the same time, it allows us to offer our patrons 24/7 library service."
