What to Do With Your Christmas Tree in Glen Cove

The City's annual Chip-A-Tree event is Saturday.

The New Year's celebration is over, so that means it's time to take down all your holiday decorations, including your Christmas tree.

The City of Glen Cove is offering a few ways for residents to recycle their Christmas trees now that the holiday season has passed.

“Chip-A-Tree"

On Saturday, the City’s Beautification Commission is hosting their annual Chip-A-Tree event.

The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Morgan Memorial Park parking lot on Germaine Street. Free coffee and donuts will be available and the first 50 Glen Cove residents will receive a free evergreen sapling. Please remove all decorations and lights from your trees before recycling.

“We appreciate the support of our community and the Beautification Commission as the donated trees will be chipped for landscaping use at Glen Cove Adopt-A-Spots and city parks,” Mayor Reggie Spinello said in a press release.

Can't Make the Event?

Anyone who cannot make Saturday’s event can drop off their trees at a designated area in the Morgan Memorial Park parking lot from now until Saturday.

Curbside

After the Chip-A-Tree event, Christmas trees will be picked up curbside on Wednesdays with yard waste by the Glen Cove’s Sanitation Department. Once again, you must remove all decorations and lights from your trees before recycling.
