Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?
Evans: We are celebrating our 27th year this June.
Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in and how did you get started?
Evans: I went to school for social work and my first internship was in a senior living community. I always had a wonderful relationship with my grandmother and her friends. I am a natural caregiver and have a connection with the senior population.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Evans: At The Regency, everyone’s family.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Evans: Caring for people and forming relationships with the residents and losing a resident. We become family, and losing a member of our family is always so hard.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Evans: Being able to give our residents the best quality of life. I learn from and appreciate all the residents and what they have taught me about life and how to appreciate it and make every day count.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Evans: For over 26 years, The Regency has been a unique place in the community with little turnover among staff. We have staff who have been here 20 plus years, and I myself have been here 24 years! We work to make this people’s home. We want residents to stay here for as long as they can, regardless of their health, with people they recognize. This is a unique environment. We aren’t a huge facility, but we offer a lot. Our residents care about one another, and everyone is part of our warm, caring environment.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Evans: Love what you do.
Patch: Are there any new project or endeavors you are working on that you’re excited about?
Evans: We are happy to announce the Grand Opening of Safe Harbor, our memory care community.
Safe Harbor is a secure, self-contained neighborhood within The Regency dedicated to seniors with Alzheimer’s or other forms of memory loss. We offer all the amenities of assisted living enhanced with specialized programming and support and the opportunity for seniors to “age in place.” Aging in place is a term used to describe a person living in the residence of their choice, for as long as they are able, as they age. This includes being able to have any services (or other support) they might need over time as their needs change.
We provide a person-centered, total well-being approach to embrace all individual needs. Our motto is "Real Relationships. Real Warmth. Real Care." And we truly mean it when we say "Welcome home."
Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about you?
