20-Story Murray Hill Condo Tower Gets Final Go-Ahead

The luxury apartment building, named "The Lindley," will rise along 3rd Avenue between 38th and 39th.

MURRAY HILL, NY — The newly vacant lot at 591 3rd Ave., previously filled with three quaint, five-story "tenement houses," will soon be buzzing with construction crews laying the groundwork for a new 20-story, 74-unit condo tower with retail shops on the ground floor, according to plans filed with at the NYC Department of Buildings.

The luxury apartment building, called "The Lindley," is being developed by CBSK Ironstate (technically a mashup of three separate developers) and designed by Rawlings Architects, according to the building's website.

City officials approved an initial application for the building in June, and issued a final permit Tuesday.

Retail shops will be able to rent out space on the ground floor, according to New York Yimby, and the rest of the building will consist of condos.

"This neighborhood is rich in history and in the midst of a cultural renaissance — featuring renowned schools, museums, cultural resources like the J.P. Morgan Library, international consulates and the city’s best medical facilities," the developer's website says of Murray Hill.
