Argo Tea Forced To Close In Kips Bay After Traces Of Mice Found

KIPS BAY, NY — Argo Tea in Kips Bay was ordered to close after health inspectors found evidence of mice in the cafe, city records show.
In an inspection on Monday, health inspectors found evidence of mice at the facility, located at 550 First Ave. at 30th St.
It is unclear whether the inspectors found mice in the food areas, non-food areas, or both.

Inspectors issued a whopping 43 violations points for the vermin violation on Monday.

The Argo Tea is located at New York University's medical center on First Ave. between 30th and 34th Sts.
Inspectors also found the facility was not vermin-proof, had conditions that would attract vermin to the facility, and also had violations regarding plumbing, proper sanitization, and single-use items being re-used and improperly stored, according to city records.
Health inspectors reviewed the cafe in a separate inspection on Feb. 26 and issued 21 violation points for evidence of mice and food not being protected from contamination, city records show.
The Kips Bay Argo Tea's listed phone number was disconnected Thursday. An inquiry to Argo Tea's email address was not immediately returned.
