Beauty Bar Bathroom Rapist Lured Victim With Cocaine, Police Say

Brenton Maughn-Tulloch allegedly attacked his 22-year-old victim while they were snorting coke in Beauty Bar's bathroom near Gramercy Park.

GRAMERCY PARK, NY — One young woman's trip to the bathroom of Beauty Bar to do cocaine with East Flatbush resident Brenton Maughn-Tulloch, 30, turned violent last Friday night, police said, when her coke buddy began sexually assaulting her inside the bathroom.

Maugh-Tulloch forcibly removed the 22-year-old woman's pants around 1 a.m. Saturday and pinned her body against a wall "by using his body to apply pressure to her from behind," according to a criminal complaint filed by the Manhattan District Attorney.

"He then inserted his penis into [the victim's] vagina without her consent," the complaint says.

Some 30 to 45 minutes later, police were called to the trendy bar on East 14th Street between Second and Third avenues on a report of a rape. When they arrived, Maugh-Tulloch was still hanging out inside the bar, an NYPD spokesman said.

The suspect was arrested at the scene, police said. He has since been charged with first-degree rape.

Prosecutors with the DA's Office requested that Maugh-Tulloch's bail be set at $150,000. However, the judge presiding over his case ended up setting it much lower, at $50,000.

Maugh-Tulloch is already facing past charges for marijuana possession and credit card theft, court records show. He's currently being held on Rikers Island while he awaits trial.

A call to Beauty Bar for comment went unreturned Friday.
