Cameron McDermott, Long Island Sicko, Also 'Brutally' Raped Women In Manhattan: DA

MANHATTAN, NY — The same sicko arrested back in January for allegedly showing his penis to at least six women and girls on the streets of Garden City, Long Island, and keeping a trove of perverted video footage and child porn on his computer has now been indicted for "brutally" and repeatedly raping two different women in New York City apartments while they were unconscious — and videotaping it — in 2010 and 2013, according to the Manhattan District Attorney.

Cameron McDermott, 31, of Hempstead, Long Island, has been charged with raping his first victim eight separate times in various Murray Hill and Gramercy apartments in 2010. He then — three years later — raped a second victim five separate times in an 81st Street apartment on the Upper East Side, prosecutors say.

McDermott is being held without bail, a spokeswoman for the DA told Patch, because "he comes from a wealthy family" and is considered a flight risk if he's released.

While gathering evidence for the case against McDermott in Garden City, local detectives discovered a bunch of child porn on his computers and USB drives, according to the DA's office — along with incriminating photos and videos showing a series of brutal rapes in various Manhattan apartments.

After months of cross-investigation, McDermott is now being charged with a staggering 200 felony crimes in connection to the NYC assaults.

His charges include first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, predatory sexual assault, aggravated sexual abuse and unlawful surveillance.

McDermott knew the women in both Manhattan cases, according to a DA spokeswoman. However, prosecutors have not revealed anything more about the nature of these relationships, nor have they commented on how the women came to be unconscious before they were raped.

But here's what we do know, as alleged by the DA in court documents sent to Patch:

Gramercy-Murray Hill, 2010

• On June 18 at 5:45 p.m., the suspect installed multiple cameras inside an apartment in the Gramercy-Murray Hill area. Then, around 3:30 a.m. the next morning, he recorded himself repeatedly touching his first victim's vagina in the apartment while she was "incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless."

• On June 20 at 12:25 a.m., the suspect recorded himself touching his victim's butt with his penis, then inserting a "foreign object" in her vagina — again while she was unconscious — inside the apartment in Gramercy-Murray Hill.

• On July 25 around 2:55 a.m., the suspect installed a bunch more cameras inside a different apartment in the same area, on Third Avenue between 36th and 37th streets. Then, on Aug. 7, 2010, he returned to this apartment around 2:40 a.m. and recorded himself touching the victim's butt with his penis — and raping her — while she was unconscious.

• On Oct. 17 at 10:25 a.m. in an unspecified apartment in the same area, the suspect recorded himself repeatedly touching the victim's vagina while she was unconscious.

• On Nov. 5 at 10:20 p.m. in this same unspecified apartment, the suspect recorded himself touching the victim's vagina and inserting his finger in it while she was unconscious. Then, around 3:50 a.m. the next morning, he returned to the Third Avenue apartment for more "unlawful surveillance" (unclear what exactly happened here).

Upper East Side, 2013

• On Aug. 11 at 11:45 p.m., the suspect installed multiple cameras inside an apartment on 81st Street between East End and York avenues. Then, 15 minutes later, he recorded himself repeatedly raping his second victim, both orally and vaginally, while she was unconscious. He also put her hand on his penis, rubbed his penis against her breasts and ejaculated on her back — again, all while she was unconscious.

• On Aug. 20 at an unknown time, the suspect returned to this same 81st Street apartment for more "unlawful surveillance" (unclear what happened).

• On Nov. 9 at an unknown time in the same apartment, the suspect repeatedly touched the victim's breasts, vagina and butt; squeezed her butt; repeatedly rubbed his penis against her face, leg and arm; and repeatedly put her hand on his penis. She was unconscious throughout.

• On Nov. 20 at an unknown time in the same apartment, the suspect engaged in more "unlawful surveillance" (unclear what happened).

"Many rapists rape again," Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance said Thursday.

The DA is urging anyone who believes he or she may have been a victim of McDermott to call his office's Sex Crimes Hotline at (212) 335-9373.

McDermott was arrested in the parking garage of his Hempstead apartment on the afternoon of Jan. 19 after allegedly going on a months-long flashing spree through Garden City.

At the time, local cops said they also found several photos and videos on the suspect's various electronic devices of him exposing himself to women on the street — and another video of two girls under the age of 16 engaging in a sexual performance of some kind.

Investigators with the Nassau County District Attorney's Office later said they found a trove of other child porn on his devices as well.

One thing investigators noticed right away was that McDermott was very meticulous when organizing footage of his own sex crimes on his computer, Assistant Manhattan DA Jamie Kleidman said in court Thursday afternoon. For example, if he took a photo or video of himself undressing an unconscious woman, she said, he might save it in a folder labeled "Unconscious" plus the victim’s name. And if it was a rape, she said, it would go in a folder labeled "Rape," again with the victim's name.

Here's what McDermott did to women on Long Island, according to the Garden City Police Department:

• On Sept. 25 at 10:30 p.m., he approached a 21-year-old woman in a parking lot at Adelphi University. He exposed himself and, after asking her a question, urinated on her leg.

• On Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. he called a 20-year-old woman over to his car on Hamilton Place. As the victim approached the vehicle, he was exposed and appeared to be videoing.

• On Oct. 16 at 5 p.m., he approached a 44-year-old woman in a parking lot on Ninth Street. He asked her a question at which time the woman realized he was exposing himself.

• On Nov. 23 at 5 p.m., he parked next to a 53-year-old woman in Parking Field 7N. He asked her a question, at which time she realized he had no pants on.

• On Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m., he approached a 36-year-old woman in Parking Field 7N and started speaking to her, when she discovered he was not wearing pants.

• On Jan. 5 at 5:45 p.m., he approached a 15-year-old girl on Chestnut Street and asked her a question while he was exposing himself.
