Election Day in Gramercy-Murray Hill: Wait Times, Hillary Love, Talk of 'Retaliation' and More
People in the neighborhood came out to vote in the historic election, pushing for the first female president.

GRAMERCY, NY — Long lines greeted voters in Gramercy on Tuesday, like much of the city. The tone was positive overall though, with voters in the area content to wait to cast their votes in the historic election.
“I always think women have a deeper vision of the future than men do,” said Graca Clifford, a naturalized American citizen from Brazil, who lives on Sixth Avenue and 16th Street.
Her husband, John Clifford, voted for Clinton as well. The two both came out to Union Square to vote in the early afternoon at The Clinton School on West 15th Street.

“Voting for the first woman president will break down barriers so we can eventually vote for the second,” he said. “Hillary also knows a thing or two about what it’s like to actually be president."
Faith, who preferred not to give her last name, voted with her husband and young son in tow, and said she would be very excited to have a first female president. She also said she voted for Clinton because she was a “tried and true Democrat.”

“It would take a lot to get me to vote for Trump,” she said.
A Union Square woman who wouldn’t give her name because she feared “retaliation” from the Trump campaign, said she doesn’t think Trump actually wants to be president, he just wants to win something.
“Every ambitious kid wants to be president when they’re in kindergarten, but then you grow up, become an adult, and realize it’s difficult and isn’t just about firing everyone,” she said.
At least those waiting in line on 23rd Street had a nice view of the new M23 express bus launched Monday.
