GRAMERCY, NY — A new cocktail lounge opened in Gramercy this month.

The cocktail bar, Hidden Lane, brings handcrafted cocktails to a secluded backyard patio area and two floors of bar space at East 15th Street and Irving Place, near Union Square.

The venue is along a block typically lined with sports bars and pubs, according to an announcement about the lounge, which called the new bar a "hideaway." The owners saw Gramercy as the perfect spot for a neighborhood cocktail bar, a departure from sports bars in the area.

The announcement said the new space is a "welcoming cocktail bar with approachable drinks and an easygoing atmosphere."

Owners Richie Romero, a partner at Jue Lan Club, and Mike Kanevsky are behind the new watering hole. The duo will also open a pizza shop, Smalls Pizza, later this year.
