Korean Eatery In Murray Hill Is Named A James Beard Finalist
The Korean restaurant Atomix is one of two New York City restaurants named a James Beard finalist for best new restaurant.
MURRAY HILL, NY — Atomix, a Korean eatery in Murray Hill, was named a James Beard finalist for best new restaurant Wednesday.
The Murray Hill restaurant was one of two New York City establishments named finalist for best new restaurant. The second was French bistro called Frenchette in Tribeca.
Atomix, located at 104 East 30th St., is led by the husband-wife duo Junghyun and Jeungeun Park, who goes by Ellia. The multi-course tasting menu of Korean cuisine is set up with communal seating for 14 guests.

The restaurant was also named a finalist for outstanding restaurant design, with its design created by the firm Studio Writers.
"We're honored and humbled to be a finalist for Best New Restaurant and Outstanding Restaurant Design," Atomix wrote on Instagram.

The James Beard Foundation announced the finalists Wednesday, with several New York City establishments and chefs seeking the prestigious award, known as the Oscars of the culinary world.
The awards will be presented May 6 at the Lyric Opera in Chicago.
