KIPS BAY, NY — A new chain looking to dominate the future of fast and healthy takeout food open in Kips Bay this week – offering a menu dominated by lettuce.
Local Leaf opened at 440 Third Ave. this week with offerings like lettuce wraps, bowls and platters. Local Leaf, a second-generation of the Sweetgreen chain, claims says that all of its food is responsibly sourced and that its ingredients are "farm-to-hand."
The restaurant's signature menu item are its lettuce wraps, which take Swiss chard leaves and fill them with vegetables and other fillings. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
