Man Killed In Murray Hill Car Collision, Police Say
An 83-year-old man was killed just one block from his home when he was fatally struck by a car in his neighborhood.

MURRAY HILL, NY — An 83-year-old man was killed in a car crash in Murray Hill this week after he was hit by a car while crossing the street, police said.
The man, Gilberto DiBernardo, was killed just one block from his home, according to police information. DiBernardo was hospitalized after the crash on Wednesday and pronounced dead on Thursday.
Police say that DiBernardo was was near the intersection of Second Avenue and East 30th Street on Wednesday at about 3:50 p.m. DiBernardo was walking across East 30th Street in the crosswalk when a car traveling south on Second Avenue fatally struck him, police said.

The driver of the car had a steady green traffic signal and tried to stop to avoid hitting DiBernardo but wasn't able to do so in time, according to the NYPD. The car knocked DiBernardo to the ground.
Police are still investigating the death and no arrests have been made.
