Men In Equinox Steam Room Masturbated Before Customer: Lawsuit

FLATIRON, NY — A member of the upscale Equinox gym claims in a new lawsuit that the club did not properly handle his report of being surrounded by masturbating men in a steam room at the gym according to a new lawsuit,

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, says that the man was sitting in the steam room in November when he realized that he was surrounded by three men, all of whom were staring at him while touching themselves. The man said he was at the Equinox gym located at 897 Broadway.

In the lawsuit, the man said that he was "confronted by three unknown men in the steam shower, who removed their towels, stared at the plaintiff, and began masturbating to and in close proximity of the plaintiff."

"I thought, 'No escape, I’m going to be sexually assaulted,'" he told the New York Post, which first reported on the lawsuit.

The man, identified in the court documents only by the initials GB, said he reported the incident to the gym's front desk, but that no action was taken. His lawyer told the Post that Equinox refused to revoke the memberships of the other men in the steam room.

"Equinox thoroughly investigates all member complaints, and did exactly that in this case," an Equinox spokesperson said in a statement. "We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for any inappropriate behavior in our clubs."
